NOSOTRXS POR
EL VALLE
Who We Are
Nosotrxs Por El Valle is a group of Rio Grande Valley natives, scholars, and activists whose goal is to give the community back its history. We work as a team of Chicana/os from various disciplines: History, Mexican American Studies, and Communication.
Our Current Project:
Civil Rights in the Rio Grande
Valley
The Rio Grande Valley's cultural diffusion, cultural clashes, and position in the borderlands have shaped its history.

This project aims to highlight the efforts of BIPOC as they struggled against the oppressive society created by the dominant Anglo population.
Our objective is to take the various experiences and stories of BIPOC of the RGV and make these histories accessible to the community. As this exhibit travels and grows, it will do so with the community.

Our project entitled “Civil Rights in the Rio Grande Valley” will have three components. Each will serve to engage the audience with a multi-faceted display of 16 different topics related to RGV Civil Rights history. One component will be a striking piece of art that calls attention to that particular topic being displayed in the second component. This component will be a museum-style panel with images and information about the topic. Finally next to each piece will be a QR code which will take the audience to a series of weblinks, containing articles, videos, podcasts, suggested books, and essays on the subject.

The art piece will be the most vital of the components due to its ability to attract people to the display and tell the story all by itself, allowing the audience to dig deeper into the story with the other two components.
